Royan, Saint-Georges-de-Didonne and Meschers

About 35 min from the estate

About 35 minutes from the estate lie the long beaches of the Royan coast and its seafront promenades. Royan is also well worth a visit for its markets, its architecture and its many spots with ocean views.

Further south, towards Saint-Georges-de-Didonne and then Meschers-sur-Gironde, the scenery gradually changes, with more sheltered beaches, the cliffs lining the estuary and several walks along the shore.

La Tremblade and the Côte Sauvage

About 1 hour from the estate

About an hour from Le Petit Clos Tranquille, La Tremblade offers a completely different landscape. At La Grève, oyster farmers’ huts line the Seudre estuary: the perfect place to stop and enjoy a few oysters.

A few kilometres further on, Ronce-les-Bains and the Côte Sauvage offer yet another setting, wilder and unspoilt: long sandy beaches, dunes and a pine forest.

The Gironde estuary and its villages

Talmont-sur-Gironde

Talmont-sur-Gironde is one of the most iconic villages in Charente-Maritime. Its white houses with colourful shutters, its flower-lined lanes and its church of Sainte-Radegonde make it one of the most beautiful villages in France.

Mortagne-sur-Gironde

In Mortagne-sur-Gironde, life revolves around the harbour and the estuary. You can stroll along the quays and carry on into the countryside around the village. The atmosphere is much calmer than on the coast.

Port Maubert

Nestled at the foot of the white cliffs of Saint-Fort-sur-Gironde, between marshland and cognac vineyards, this little harbour on the Gironde estuary makes a lovely outing during your stay.

Jonzac and the surrounding area

Jonzac and its thermal baths

15 min from the estate

Just 15 minutes from the estate, Jonzac offers plenty of things to do during your stay. The town is known in particular for its thermal baths, set in former limestone quarries, as well as for its castle, its old town and its market.

The Sources Bleues at Château de Beaulon

A few minutes from the estate

A few minutes from Le Petit Clos Tranquille, Château de Beaulon is home to the famous blue springs. Tucked away in 13 hectares of parkland, these natural springs are striking for their deep blue waters.

The Lacs Bleus at Touvérac

About 40 min from the estate

About 40 minutes from the estate, the Lacs Bleus at Touvérac offer a surprising landscape in the heart of the Charente, with turquoise waters surrounded by pine trees and greenery.

The vineyards

The Bordeaux vineyards

Make the most of your stay to discover the great Bordeaux vineyards, within easy reach of Le Petit Clos Tranquille. The Côtes de Blaye and Côtes de Bourg make a good first stop. Further afield, Saint-Émilion makes for a real getaway centred on wine and heritage. Its medieval town, cobbled lanes, monolithic church and classified vineyards make it one of the unmissable destinations of the Bordeaux region.

Cognac and the Charente vineyards

Cognac is, of course, inseparable from the spirit that bears its name. Several of the great cognac houses offer tours to discover each stage of its making, from distillation to ageing in the cellars. The historic centre, the banks of the Charente and the vineyards around the town are also well worth a visit.
